A PAEDOPHILE who worked as a clown at Great Ormond Street Hospital walked free from a court today, despite having admitted taking indecent pictures of children.
Piers Jester, 43, kept fantasy diaries describing his lust for children and compiled an online library of films and 2,425 pictures of children being abused.
Jester, a play specialist at the hospital whose job involved dressing as a clown and putting on puppet shows, was caught by police as he filmed 11 and 12-year-old girls in a fountain in Trafalgar Square.
He later admitting he was trying to get "some upskirt shots".
Middlesex Guildhall Crown Court heard he had been accused of sexually assaulting a little girl at the hospital but the case was dropped for lack of evidence. He was sacked last year.
Jester, who lives with his 76-year-old mother in Walthamstow, was sentenced to a community order with three years' supervision.
He was also ordered to complete a sex-offender programme, banned from working with children for life, ordered to pay Pounds 575 costs and given a five-year antisocial behaviour order prohibiting him from having a camera, camera phone or video recorder in a public place.
Judge Roger Chapple said he had been minded to send him to prison but feared the public interest would not be served in the long term.
Jester, who trained as a nursery nurse, had pleaded guilty in March to five charges relating to indecent photographs.
